In getting back to normalcy after the holiday season, I am sharing a Friday Favorites post today since I haven’t done one in a while! Just as I anticipated in Monday’s post, this week was a bit tough to get through. My brain literally hasn’t shut off in five days trying to figure out how-to once again balance work, blogging, writing, and being a Suzy homemaker, but I am hopeful with a little time I will get back into my routine. Evenings have been tough because all I have wanted to do is rest when I get a free moment, even if that means I have a couple extra loads of laundry to do this weekend. I am working on letting go and cutting myself some slack though. I know it will all get done eventually, so I am trying to relax when I can!
What this means is that I love each and every one of you and I want to hopefully influence you all to try new things and be open minded when it comes to your health, for example green smoothies!
Here is the thing, when I first heard of FitFluential, I thought it was something I could never be a part of. To be honest, I know I am an average woman.
Being average is not a ‘poor me’ statement, just a fact! Actually, I love being ‘average’ because I like to think it makes me more relatable to my readers. I am not perfect, nor do I pretend to be; I am not a bodybuilder nor am I trying to be; I don’t work out for hours each day, nor do I want to. But here is the thing; I am FitFluential exactly as I am, and you can be too!
My goal is not to encourage you to live a life solely based around fitness; it is instead to live a life that keeps you and your family healthy both physically and mentally. I try to share exactly who I am in real life on my blog; I don’t want to be someone I am not in person or in writing! Sometimes I eat ice cream for dinner or at times I will skip a run for a nap, but I am still FitFluential.

I am not sure if it is the freezing temperatures or a change of taste, but I have been downing hot tea like it’s going out of style! I actually used to not like hot tea at all, but within the past month or so I have been having at least a couple cups a day. My favorite go-to right now is a green tea after lunch at work, and then a caffeine free green tea plus peppermint tea combo at night. I am obsessed, but I guess there are a lot worse habits to have than hot tea!
I know this was part of my New Year’s Goals , but I have seriously been loving the organic, hormone-free dairy and meat we have been buying. Tim and I just can’t get over how much better the ingredients taste. Our breakfast last weekend that included hormone-free eggs, bacon and Ezekial toast with organic butter was absolutely incredible. Seriously, when was the last time you had eggs and bacon that blew you away? So far at least, it has definitely been worth the extra money while grocery shopping for both taste and health!
Like I mentioned above, now that the polar bear friendly temperatures are starting to subside I am more than thrilled to have gotten through it relatively unscathed when it comes to my health. I know there are a ton of sicknesses that have been going around, both in my family and at work, and I have been doing my best to stay as well as possible. I have felt a few headaches and nausea, most likely due to the change in weather pressure, but I will take it compared to the other colds and flu symptoms I have seen. Remember that sleep, enough but not too much exercise, healthy eating, and my favorite green smoothie will keep you feeling good!
**Speaking of healthy, make sure to stop by the blog Monday for a giveaway of one of my most favorite products for assisting in keeping us all sick-free throughout the year, but especially in the winter!
Fleece Lined Leggings
Everyone here is aware of my Merchant 31 obsession, and one of my current go-to pieces are the Fleece Lined Leggings. I am obsessed with these leggings and wear them literally every hour I am outside of the office. They are perfect for keeping me warm in the winter and provide great coverage as well. They also have a wide elastic band, which keeps them from cutting into my skin or creating unflattering lines. Plus, for only $12 a piece, you can easily stock up on a variety of colors! Right now I have a pair of navy and a pair of grey, both of which I got for Christmas. Maybe if I make a little room in my budget, I will be able to stock up on a few more colors!
Right now I feel overwhelmed because there are so many television shows I am trying to stay up-to-date on. Oh, and I know there are much worse things to feel overwhelmed about than keeping up with my series’, but boy oh boy is my DVR going to be full! Right now I have The Bachelor taped Mondays, Pretty Little Liars is Tuesdays, Nashville airs Wednesdays, and I have been taping the Toned Up series on Thursdays. (My personal opinion on Toned Up is that the first episode was just okay. I am willing to watch more episodes though because I really do like the girls’ bubbly personalities and I think their friendship is a positive influence on women as opposed to the cattiness on shows like The Bachelor, plus I like seeing the exercises they share! I know the show is supposed to be lighthearted and fun, but hopefully there is just a bit more depth as the season goes on. We will see!) I try and catch up on the shows while I am cooking dinner and before Tim gets home from work. That way I can multitask, plus it isn’t taking time away from my marriage. It’s a win-win!
