Friday Favorites: Are you Fitfluential?

In getting back to normalcy after the holiday season, I am sharing a Friday Favorites post today since I haven’t done one in a while! Just as I anticipated in Monday’s post, this week was a bit tough to get through. My brain literally hasn’t shut off in five days trying to figure out how-to once again balance work, blogging, writing, and being a Suzy homemaker, but I am hopeful with a little time I will get back into my routine. Evenings have been tough because all I have wanted to do is rest when I get a free moment, even if that means I have a couple extra loads of laundry to do this weekend. I am working on letting go and cutting myself some slack though. I know it will all get done eventually, so I am trying to relax when I can!

As many of you know, I am not only a member of FitFluential, but I am also an ambassador for the company.

Tebow and Jana on a Run

What this means is that I love each and every one of you and I want to hopefully influence you all to try new things and be open minded when it comes to your health, for example green smoothies!

Here is the thing, when I first heard of FitFluential, I thought it was something I could never be a part of. To be honest, I know I am an average woman.

Being average is not a ‘poor me’ statement, just a fact! Actually, I love being ‘average’ because I like to think it makes me more relatable to my readers.  I am not perfect, nor do I pretend to be; I am not a bodybuilder nor am I trying to be; I don’t work out for hours each day, nor do I want to. But here is the thing; I am FitFluential exactly as I am, and you can be too!

My goal is not to encourage you to live a life solely based around fitness; it is instead to live a life that keeps you and your family healthy both physically and mentally. I try to share exactly who I am in real life on my blog; I don’t want to be someone I am not in person or in writing! Sometimes I eat ice cream for dinner or at times I will skip a run for a nap, but I am still FitFluential.

I would love it if you make 2014 your year to be FitFluential as well! Visit THIS LINK to become a member of the FitFluential family with me! And when you do, make sure you let FitFluential know that Jana Antil sent you!

(** Disclaimer – I do not get compensated in any way for this! It just helps me show FitFluential that I am encouraging all of you to find your own personal healthy balance too!)

As a member, will receive some amazing perks, including discounts and giveaway opportunities just by signing up. Plus you will learn about new companies as well as awesome products you may want to try. Oh, and the best part, there are absolutely no costs or fees to join FitFluential in 2014!

So what are you waiting for; stop by the site, sign up, and let FitFluential know that I sent you!

Hot Tea

I am not sure if it is the freezing temperatures or a change of taste, but I have been downing hot tea like it’s going out of style! I actually used to not like hot tea at all, but within the past month or so I have been having at least a couple cups a day. My favorite go-to right now is a green tea after lunch at work, and then a caffeine free green tea plus peppermint tea combo at night. I am obsessed, but I guess there are a lot worse habits to have than hot tea!

Organic, Hormone-Free

I know this was part of my New Year’s Goals , but I have seriously been loving the organic, hormone-free dairy and meat we have been buying. Tim and I just can’t get over how much better the ingredients taste. Our breakfast last weekend that included hormone-free eggs, bacon and Ezekial toast with organic butter was absolutely incredible. Seriously, when was the last time you had eggs and bacon that blew you away? So far at least, it has definitely been worth the extra money while grocery shopping for both taste and health!

Staying Healthy

Like I mentioned above, now that the polar bear friendly temperatures are starting to subside I am more than thrilled to have gotten through it relatively unscathed when it comes to my health. I know there are a ton of sicknesses that have been going around, both in my family and at work, and I have been doing my best to stay as well as possible. I have felt a few headaches and nausea, most likely due to the change in weather pressure, but I will take it compared to the other colds and flu symptoms I have seen. Remember that sleep, enough but not too much exercise, healthy eating, and my favorite green smoothie will keep you feeling good!

**Speaking of healthy, make sure to stop by the blog Monday for a giveaway of one of my most favorite products for assisting in keeping us all sick-free throughout the year, but especially in the winter!

Fleece Lined Leggings

Everyone here is aware of my Merchant 31 obsession, and one of my current go-to pieces are the Fleece Lined Leggings. I am obsessed with these leggings and wear them literally every hour I am outside of the office. They are perfect for keeping me warm in the winter and provide great coverage as well. They also have a wide elastic band, which keeps them from cutting into my skin or creating unflattering lines. Plus, for only $12 a piece, you can easily stock up on a variety of colors! Right now I have a pair of navy and a pair of grey, both of which I got for Christmas. Maybe if I make a little room in my budget, I will be able to stock up on a few more colors!

Television Series

Right now I feel overwhelmed because there are so many television shows I am trying to stay up-to-date on. Oh, and I know there are much worse things to feel overwhelmed about than keeping up with my series’, but boy oh boy is my DVR going to be full! Right now I have The Bachelor taped Mondays, Pretty Little Liars is Tuesdays, Nashville airs Wednesdays, and I have been taping the Toned Up series on Thursdays. (My personal opinion on Toned Up is that the first episode was just okay. I am willing to watch more episodes though because I really do like the girls’ bubbly personalities and I think their friendship is a positive influence on women as opposed to the cattiness on shows like The Bachelor, plus I like seeing the exercises they share! I know the show is supposed to be lighthearted and fun, but hopefully there is just a bit more depth as the season goes on. We will see!) I try and catch up on the shows while I am cooking dinner and before Tim gets home from work. That way I can multitask, plus it isn’t taking time away from my marriage. It’s a win-win!

Thanks Heather for hosting the weekly link-up!  Swing by Housewife Glamour for more Friday fun!

Conversation Time.

  • What television series do you like to follow? Are any of my favorites yours as well?
  • Are you a hot tea drinker? If so, what are your favorite brands and types of tea? I would love some suggestions to keep from getting bored!
  • Have you been able to avoid getting sick this winter? What healthy precautions are you taking to stay well?

  1. I feel the same right now about TV, which I know is silly! lol I also watch The Bachelor (still have to see the 2nd part of Monday’s episode!), and I am a total Bravo junkie… Vanderpump Rules, RHOBH, Toned Up, Courtney Loves Dallas, it’s a problem lol

I caught up with The Bachelor Tuesday evening while making dinner! To be honest, I always think the first episode with the limo introductions are a bit boring, so I may have glazed over during a few parts lol!

  2. all of the great tv seasons are coming back this week! Hooray!

    • HappyWifeHealthyLife says:

Ahh I know! It is so hard to keep up with all of them. I can’t even remember what we used to do before DVR! 😉

  3. I try to catch up on shows and computer and things before Aaron comes home, too, so I don’t take away from our marriage. I also hope Toned Up (haven’t watched last nights yet) gets a little more into how they come up with things, what they do, etc. not just the friendship (which I do love, though!) I love hot tea. Aaron actually made fun of how much tea I drink last week. I go through wayy too many tea bags. My favorite are Bigelow Vanilla Chai, Tazo Zen, Lipton Cinnamon Spice or something like that, and Sugar Cookie. Funny you mention having a headache and getting nauseous lately. I didn’t know if could be from weather, but I’ve been experiencing both the past few days. I’m hoping not to get sick, though! Happy Friday! Enjoy your weekend 🙂

Happy Friday to you too Heather! Glad we are on the same page about sneaking in our shows before the husbands get home! 😉 Definitely got to fit in things when we can! I usually order Tazo Zen at Starbucks and it is one of my favorites! Also, the Tazo Sweet Cinnamon Spice is another good one too! I have never tried the Sugar Cookie kind before, but I have heard great things about it!

  4. Hey Jana- your links to join fitfluential don’t work- looks like there is an extra L in your link but I was able to get on to the site and used your name- thank you!!

Thank you so much Anna-Marie for letting me know! That is so sweet of you! I am going to fix it right now! Oh, and thanks for using my name! 🙂

  5. Thanks so much for linking up! Hope you have a wonderful weekend 🙂

    And… fleece lined leggings?! I need! 🙂

    • HappyWifeHealthyLife says:

You are welcome! I love your favorites link-up. It allows me to sort of wrap up my week as well. 🙂 Ahh and yes the fleece lined leggings are life changing! So amazing for winter!

  6. I’m a FitFluential ambassador too — did they ask us to promote them this week? I feel like I missed an email or something, because I’ve seen a few posts like this!

  7. Pretty Little Liars that’s one of my favorites!! I haven’t see the Toned-up show, but as you do, I like the spirit of Karena and Katrina, as well as their friendship, they are fun and enthusiast!!

    • HappyWifeHealthyLife says:

Ahh yes I am so hooked on Pretty Little Liars! The fact it is aired on ABC Family concerns me a bit though lol. I don’t think I would want my pre-teen watching that’s for sure! 🙂

  8. I can’t remember if it was you or not but I started getting caught up on Parenthood last night!! I stayed up watching four episodes last night and was crying by the end of it! It’s just so good! Have a good weekend, friend!

  9. And random, how does Tebow do with that choke collar? I’m tempted to get one of those for Truckee because if we’re running at full speed and she decides to stop and smell the roses, then it takes all my strength to pull the leash hard enough to correct her!

Tebow does really well. We actually started using it at the end of his puppy training by request of his trainer. At first I was a little nervous, because I know it looks barbaric, but honestly I would not be able to walk or run with him without it. It was a great investment for our family, and I suggest just starting with light walks and get him used to the pull a bit. It really is a great training tool though! 🙂

  10. I am drinking hot tea right now 🙂

Way to go on sticking to the organic, hormone free diet!

And I totally feel you about being backed up…with tv shows that is, haha. I’ve got New Girl, The Mindy Project, The Bachelor, and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills calling my name!

    • HappyWifeHealthyLife says:

Ha ha I think we are all in the same boat when it comes to tv right now! The problem is that all of our shows air now, and then there are periods of time when there is nothing on tv. No fun!

  11. I love Toned Up! I am currently watching the second episode right now. I love Katrina and Karena and all things Tone It Up. I am obsessed with Scandal right now, I have been watching it so much lately- highly recommend!

Green tea is my go-to tea, but I have been loving the Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride Tea! I don’t know if it is in stores since it is a “holiday” tea, but if you see it you should definitely pick it up! It is the perfect evening tea!!

I forgot to tape the second episode so I am going to have to find it sometime this week replaying! Ahh I love Scandal too! I actually watch it all the time on Netflix and am just waiting on the new episodes to begin again because I am all caught up!
