I just want to thank everyone for the sweet words and congrats on my pregnancy! Honestly, it still seems hard to believe and sometimes I have to just pinch myself to remember it is real. I have wanted to be a mom for as long as I can remember, and now that the time is here, I get weepy just thinking about it.
Being pregnant has been a huge reason why I’ve had to take a step back from the blog for a minute. There was so much I wanted to share, but it all revolved around my pregnancy. Since I wasn’t quite ready to share my news, I found I really didn’t have anything else I wanted to talk about! My food hasn’t been healthy and creative, I haven’t been exercising a whole lot, and most of my weekends have revolved around naps and movie watching.
I have been writing posts for the past nine weeks though that reflect some of my thoughts and experiences so far. I also have kept weekly posts regarding pregnancy updates, so I am going to share those simultaneously on the blog as well. To begin with though, I thought I would complete this fun pregnancy survey I have seen on other blogs to kind of give a background of the pregnancy so far. (I took out a few questions that I couldn’t quite relate to!)
Hair color? dirty blonde
Eye color? green
About the Father
Age? 28 (He’ll turn 29 before the baby is born!)
Hair color? blonde
Eye color? blue
Is this your first pregnancy? Yes!
When did you find out you were pregnant? Sat. January 10th
Was it planned? It had been planned for quite a while, but the timing was still a surprise!
What was your first reaction? My heart was literally beating out of my chest and I couldn’t believe it… I figured it had to be some kind of mistake!
Who was with you when you found out? I found out and then I came out of the bathroom smiling like a crazy person and told Tim. I think he thought it was a dream at first because it was 5:00 am on a Saturday morning. We literally just sat in the bed staring at the positive pregnancy test for at least a good 10 minutes. It was such a crazy feeling!
Who was the first person you told? Tim
How did your parents react? I think my mom thought I was joking at first, but then she was just so excited and nervous at the same time. I think we all felt a little cautiously optimistic! My dad was super excited too.
How far along are you? 16 weeks tomorrow!
What was your first symptom? An overwhelming feeling of fatigue and exhaustion. I literally did not want to get out of bed, much less workout, the week before I took the test. Not long after that, the nausea hit hardcore.
When is your due date? September 7, 2015
Do you know the sex of the baby? Not yet, but I have a hunch! (Although I know that doesn’t mean anything!!)
Have you picked out names? Yes! We have both our girl and boy name picked out.
How much weight have you gained? I haven’t been weighed since week 12, but then I was up about 3 pounds.
Do you have stretch marks? No… not yet at least!
Have you felt the baby move? Not yet!
Have you heard the heartbeat? Yes! We heard the heartbeat at Week 12 and it was so perfect and strong! 🙂
Home or hospital birth? Get me to a hospital please!
Natural or medicated birth? I truly believe this is a subject ‘to each their own’, but I definitely plan on having a little medicated assistance. I have read so many women discuss how much more enjoyable their delivery was once they received the epidural. I am not going to lie, I am pretty terrified of this part of the pregnancy so anything that will help soothe that fear and worry is good by me.
Who will be in the delivery room with you? Right now I am planning on just Tim and I. However, if I am mid-labor and need my mom then well, she’ll be joining us too!
Will you breastfeed? I plan to!!
Do you think you’ll need a c-section? I would hope not!
Will you cry when you hold the baby for the first time? I am pretty darn sure I will.
What’s the first thing you might say to him? I can’t even imagine, probably just that I love him or her and that I’m so happy to be his/her mommy!
Would you let someone videotape the birth? I am thinking that nobody really wants to see this, but I would like to get a few pictures right after.
Are you excited or scared about the birth? I kind of answered this question in the epidural part, but I am both excited and scared. I think every labor is different and I really don’t want to label mine until I go through it. Some women love labor and the experience of giving birth, while others haven’t had the best experience in the past. I am going to try and do everything I can to prepare myself the best I can and to just be healthy. I will pray and trust God and lean on my family for both physical and emotional support. Plus, I am going to try really hard to remind myself of the joyful blessing I will receive at the end of all the hard work!!
- You ask me – What other questions would you like answered regarding my pregnancy so far?
- If you have been pregnant before, what experience really surprised you the most?
- Do you have any tips for a first time expecting mother??
