Pregnancy Posts: Week 9

So, I’ve decided that I better start combining my weekly pregnancy update posts or I am never going to get caught up to the present week! Beginning on the next update post, I am going to start sharing my weeks two at a time. The goal is to share week 9, 10 & 11, and 12 & 13 during this week and to share 15 & 16 and 17 & 18 next week.  Then, the following week I will be all caught up. Whooh! I guess that’s what happens when you don’t share your pregnancy announcement until later down the road. I will be back tomorrow with an Easter weekend recap, but for now here is my pregnancy post for Week 9:

Pregnancy Week 9

 Not much of a bump happening yet!

This week has been quite a whirlwind! Work was crazy busy and Tim was in Atlanta for most of it on business, so needless to say I have been taking advantage of being alone and napping as much as possible after work.  Thankfully, I have a long weekend ahead to look forward to with President’s Day being on Monday. I am also excited to spend Valentine’s Day weekend with my love! We have plans for a fancy dinner Saturday (02/14) night so it should be a great time.

My pregnancy symptoms actually relinquished a bit this week, so it was nice to feel a little more normal as week 9 began. The nausea relaxed a little and I had more energy from Sunday-Wednesday afternoon, but by Wednesday evening I was exhausted and in bed by 8:00pm. Thursday was the first time I really felt nauseous that week, but it was weird since it didn’t start until lunch time when before I had been struggling with nausea from the time I woke up until lunch time.

This week my face really began breaking out like crazy. I had some trouble with blemishes as a teenager, but haven’t had many issues since I was about 20 years old. The blemishes seem to be on my cheeks and cheekbones, which is really strange because if I ever had trouble it would be along my T-Zone or on my chin. I am trying to just go with it and remind myself that my hormones are changing like crazy. I am still cleansing and moisturizing as I’ve always done so I am hoping it all just kind of balances out on its own.

I am still having certain food aversions, but they seem to be less intense this week. I was even able to add my beloved oat bran back into my breakfast rotation (for a day – better than nothing) so I am sure my body was happy to have a little healthy break from the pop tarts and bagels I’ve been eating lately!

Food Cravings:

  • Pasta with marinara sauce and garlic bread

Spaghetti and Meatballs - Pregnancy Cravings

  • Italian Dressing on Romaine Lettuce (I am still not quite ready for mixed, leafy greens)
  • Anything with tomatoes (Tomato Juice, Marinara sauce (see above), Minestrone Soup)
  • Buttered Bread
  • Parmesan Cheese (Does anyone else think I should just go to Italy for the rest of the first trimester??)
  • Gummy Candy
  • Icees

Food Aversions:

  • Coffee, Hot Water and Hot Tea (the usual’s)
  • Yogurt and Milk
  • Fruit… Every fruit just seems to taste so sour to me 🙁 

Fruit Salad

  • Ice Cream (I know…)
  • Chocolate
  • Peanut Butter

      It really is crazy how cravings/aversions vary between women! Those hormones can do some crazy things to our taste buds! 🙂

    ah ah oh my god our cravings were the same, I’m still craving Parmesan cheese, I literally use any meal possible as a vehicle for more cheese!!!!! Can’t wait to see the rest of your weeks! I agree with Ashley, my cravings were more like your food aversions! lol

      Ha ha so funny! I have been looking for ways to get cheese into my diet any way I can too! Yesterday I literally had a ‘snack’ of leftover Easter ham wrapped in a slice of Colby longhorn cheese and it was amazing! Salt is definitely my friend this pregnancy!

      LOL I wish! I told Tim I want to go at some point post baby – I am thinking 5 or 10 year wedding anniversary. If we go at 5, my mom said she will come and be our nanny because she wants to go too! I told her that sounds like a plan to me ha ha! 🙂

      Ahh I wish, that would be so amazing! Honestly though, I think I would be a little sad to go to Italy and not be able to enjoy all of the fabulous wines to my heart’s content!

  5. I’m 12 weeks pregnant now and we’ve had a lot of the same food cravings! I am loving pasta, especially with meat sauce. And gummy candies! I can’t get enough. Coffee is my biggest aversion, I love it and it makes me sad it disgusts me so much!
