Maternity Pictures

The weather was perfect on Friday evening – The sun was just starting to set around 7, the air was warm yet the wind was a little cool, and we had the perfect amount of light for taking our maternity pictures!

Stadi Hedke Photography  is an independent photographer that I have been hoping to use for my maternity and newborn pictures for years! She is local and has done a ton of work for families I know and her pictures always turn out just so beautiful and classic.

I have actually known Staci personally for years and years as well! She was one of my gymnastics coaches when I was a kid and we would spend countless hours together. Before the shoot I joked about remembering attending her wedding when I was in the fifth or sixth grade, and attending her baby shower of her first of four boys! Now here we are taking my maternity pictures. It’s just so crazy how life comes full circle.

Maternity Pictures

I knew going into the pictures that I wanted the look to be simple and timeless. For the first half of the session we did a look that was a bit more formal. I wore a floor length dress from Pink Blush Maternity and Tim wore a pair of khakis and a white button up from Banana Republic.

Maternity PicturesFor the second half of the shoot, I wanted to change the look a bit and wear something a little more laid-back and intimate. This look captures our at-home personality, sort of a what we wear at the end of the day concept, while the more formal look is elegant. I actually received the robe and gown as a baby shower gift from my mom. Yep, the navy outfit is actually maternity sleepwear! I am also looking forward to using it while nursing since I think all new mama’s need at least one outfit they can feel pretty in while at home learning the ins and outs of mommyhood.

Maternity PicturesThe maternity/nursing gown and robe are both Jessica Simpson brand from Motherhood Maternity. I am looking forward to packing both pieces in my hospital bag to take with me when it’s time for baby boy to arrive!

If you are local and looking for a wonderful photographer, make sure you check out Staci’s Facebook page to see some of her work. She does such an amazing job and I can’t wait for her to take our son’s newborn pictures as well!

Conversation Time.

If you are already a mom, did you take maternity pictures? If you plan on being a mom in the future, are maternity pictures in your plans?

Do you have a favorite photographer that you tend to use time and time again?

What are some of your must have looks for nursing with style?

What stunning photos ! At the end of my pregnancy when I knew it was all soon over I wished I had taken some professional photos but now I’m excited for newborn photos with my 1 month old ! I did take my own ‘selfies’ but it’s not the same ! You look stunning

Thank you so much Fiona! I debated back and forth as to whether or not we should take maternity pictures, mostly due to deciding where and when to save our money, but now that we did it I am so happy we made the decision! I am definitely a picture-loving girl though and frame a ton of pictures throughout my house, so I knew these would be put to good use. Staci is doing our baby boy’s newborn pics as well so I know those will turn out just as great!

  2. These are honestly some of the most gorgeous maternity photos I’ve seen! What a special moment between you & your husband. God bless you (and your little ones) heart!

Thank you Jessie, that is so very sweet of you! We are very happy with how they turned out! We didn’t want anything too over-the-top and these just turned out looking pretty natural and simple.

  3. These are so pretty! We decided not to take maternity pictures this time, but maybe I will with a future pregnancy!

Thank you Emily! We kept debating back-and-forth about whether or not to take the pictures. There are so many things you’re busy buying in preparation for baby that I didn’t know if these were necessary, but now I am glad we did! 🙂 Yes, definitely just play it by ear in the future! You may want maternity pictures for your next baby and you can even include your first born in those pics as well!

  4. These are SO gorgeous!! The first one is my absolute favorite!

Thank you so much Hannah, I like that one too! My photographer brought the pretty floral headpiece and it just so happened to match my dress perfectly! 🙂

  5. Gorgeous!! Love the outfits you chose 🙂 You will be so glad you took the time to capture these memories! We took ours last night with my sister in law, she’s actually a child and family photographer so having that connection is super convenient! You’ll have to make one of these pretty images into a nice canvas!

I had a similar sleep gown and rob, which I actually put on after cleaning up after delivery! I received alot of compliments, and it was nice for that first night to have easy open for those hourly checks or whatever they are.

    • HappyWifeHealthyLife says:

That is so fun Megan and that is exactly what I was thinking to! I love the idea of wearing something functional that will also leave me feeling pretty, especially during the time immediately following labor and delivery! 😉

  9. Your photos are gorgeous!! 🙂 I love them all!
