Pregnancy Number Two Posts: Week 24-27

You may have noticed that I shortened the weeks a bit for the update, but that’s because I wanted to finish out the second trimester. As of yesterday, I am officially 28 weeks along and have entered the third trimester! I need to take my glucose test before my next doctor appointment. It is on my to-do list for this week. I actually failed the first glucose test while pregnant with Jack, and then had to go back and take the four hour test. It wasn’t fun so I am hoping to avoid doing it again if possible. Last time I had black coffee and water with lemon before my one-hour appointment, so this time I am going to stick with only plain water and finish eating earlier the night before just to be safe.

How have I been feeling…

For the most part, these past few weeks have been pretty uneventful. I have, however, felt pretty darn emotional. I really don’t remember feeling this emotional when pregnant with Jack! (Never mind, I just read back through this post and it turns out I was emotional during this time. I guess you do forget things quickly!) I think a lot of it too has to do with being tired. I have said it before, but for me the second pregnancy has been harder than the first. I just don’t have the time to kick my feet up at the end of a long day, I have a toddler to take care of and play with! I have been making more of an effort though to try and rest when I need it. Laundry can wait. Blogging can wait. But Jack and my rest cannot!

I have been trying to keep my two days of walking a week strong, and I even fit in one gym workout last week too! I was sore for days after, ha! I am trying a Stroller Strong Moms fitness class this week with Jack and I can’t wait to see how that goes. I’ve tried to incorporate the 21 Day Fix workouts, but I honestly just don’t feel comfortable with creating my own modifications. I think those will just need to wait until post-baby.

  • Fatigue
  • Insomnia (Lately I have been waking up two or three times a night to either go to the restroom, check on Jack, or just lay in bed wide awake! The days I work out I definitely sleep more soundly though.)
  • Emotional (Especially when I worry about how Jack will adjust to a new baby.. )

I don’t have a lot of cravings, but I do like sweets more this time around than I did with Jack. I think I can count on one hand the number of times I had ice cream while pregnant with him. This time? It would take a lot more than one hand, ha! I love the cookie dough concretes from a local custard shop, and I am still partial to lemonade to drink. I also still like salads a lot, so I’ve been eating a lot of those with vine-ripened tomatoes, diced avocados, and yummy cheeses like smoked gouda or sharp cheddar. I am also still very much into potatoes, so I have been baking a lot of potatoes and topping with salt, pepper, and my new favorite combination of cottage cheese and plain Greek yogurt. (Don’t knock it ’til you try it!) Also, I love Fusian so I swung in last week to get a wrap. I order the tofu and I know it sounds weird, but it is so delicious. Especially when paired with avocado and all the vegetables like carrots, cucumber, and jalapeño.

Really none! It’s not an aversion at all, but I do miss a glass of wine and a really nice cheese plate! Especially since the weather is so warm, I would love a Rose or a margarita!!

As I enter the third trimester, I can’t help but look back and wonder where the first two trimesters went! I know how fast summer flies and she is due at the end of August, so I know that before I realize it she’ll be making her arrival. I feel like I have a lot to do before then, but most of all I want to just enjoy this summer as a family of three. I want to cherish the longer days and focus on her sweet baby kicks and the comfort of knowing that she is safe and sound in my belly. My Sprinkle shower is coming up in a couple weeks, and I can’t wait to celebrate her with friends and family! After the shower, I will reevaluate what I still need to purchase and get done before she is born. I know that I definitely need to get her car seat and a stroller, so it is on my list!

Thank you Kaitlyn! So sorry I am just now replying. Sometimes I get a little behind in the comments section. 🙂 We will see when she arrives! I think I will be scheduling the c-section within the next couple appointments!

Ahh I know! I knew with summer the time would move even quicker. I can’t get over how much faster this pregnancy has felt than the one with Jack!

  3. Glad to hear things are going so well! Lemonade and ice cream were my biggest cravings with B, or maybe I just justified them in the summer. 😉

Ha ha so funny! It might be part summer / part pregnancy. 😉 It’s funny because with Jack I really wasn’t that into ice cream or desserts, and once I was through the first trimester with this one, I noticed I always wanted something sweet! Lemonade though has been a reoccurring craving for both pregnancies!

  4. I crave ice cream too! Are you allowed to eat before your glucose test? Before both of my tests, I’ve had bacon, eggs and water, and I haven’t had any issues. They told me not to drink caffeine, so that must change the results for some reason!

I read your comment weeks ago and forgot to respond, and it totally made me think about the caffeine! I was told not to eat before my glucose test, but I had coffee the first time because I thought since I had it black with no sugar it wouldn’t effect me. This time I skipped the caffeine and passed, so maybe your doctor was right! So strange how I was told not to eat and you were told to!! I like your idea better ha!
