Leggings for Postpartum Wear

This post is in partnership with buybuy BABY, a brand I shop from and love. All opinions are my own.

The weeks following my delivery with Jack, I fell in love with the postpartum support belt they give you in the hospital. It felt so nice to have everything nice and tight after almost ten months of your stomach being stretched to the max! Unfortunately, those medical grade girdles that you receive in the hospital are typically pretty flimsy and don’t last too long – especially with all the tightening and adjusting that takes place during that first week.

I knew I would need to keep that support going for awhile after this pregnancy, so I was willing to invest in something that was both comfortable and supportive. Enter the Blanqui Highwaist Postpartum + Nursing Support Leggings.

I had heard a lot about this brand during pregnancy, but never took the plunge by ordering a pair of maternity leggings. The cost held me back time-and-time again. However, I kept hearing so many good things about the leggings that I decided it would be 100% worth it to try them postpartum. I knew with certainty I would need the extra support so I figured I didn’t have much to lose. Plus, I have spent way more on a pair of Lululemon leggings, so I figured why not spend the money on something that could help me physically as well.

These leggings are marketed as having built-in, seamless support that also create more of a comfortable compression than most shape wear. The leggings are also moisture wicking so exercise is encouraged while wearing these (…after you get the go ahead from your doctor of course!).

Pros: Super comfortable! I found that I could wear these all day and they didn’t roll down or pinch my skin. I loved how thick the waistband was, and how I could still breathe while receiving support. It was neither too tight or too loose, which was a huge bonus! These leggings are also extremely versatile. I wore them dressed up with a sweater, as leggings under a dress paired with boots, as loungewear around the house paired with tunics, and for long walks after I felt up for it.

Cons: The leggings run at $64, which seems a little high. However, I chose these leggings every time I saw them in my closet because they are that comfortable and you will crave that tightness in the first weeks postpartum. (Fellow moms – I am sure many of you can relate!) The leggings do need to be handled with care as the material can pick easily, and you absolutely want to wash them on gentle and hang them to dry. Do not place in the dryer or you could probably share these leggings with your newborn!

Tips: If you’re debating between which size to order, I would recommend ordering down. The pants stretch a bit and if they were any larger I don’t think I would get the same support I was looking for. Also, be on the lookout for those buybuyBaby 20% coupons! I used my 20% coupon and had free shipping, so the cost of the leggings wasn’t too crazy. These would make a great baby shower gift if you are wanting to treat a mom-to-be. We all know that moms are busy buying all the things for their baby and typically skip the splurges for themselves. This is a simple way for a new mom to practice a little self-care without even realizing they’re doing so.

All the Moms: Any favorite postpartum clothes or gear you would recommend to those who are expecting? What were your must-haves for yourself after having a baby?

They are so nice! I have a feeling I’ll be wearing them for quite awhile postpartum, ha! These would be such a great gift for a new mom!

  2. They look really thick too, I first thought maybe they were black skinnies! They’re very flattering!
