The Merriest Christmas.

What a beautiful, fast and truly merry Christmas season it has been. I can’t believe this will be our third Christmas with Jack, and first with Savannah!

Jack and Savannah - Christmas 2017

I remember as a young girl feeling so excited for Christmas each year. I loved the lights and the gift giving and the holiday baking. I loved spending time with family, and listening to Christmas music and watching holiday movies. There was always magic in the air. Until you hit that certain age or certain stage of life when the lights on the tree didn’t shine quite as bright as they once had…

I have always loved Christmas, but I can’t say there weren’t moments during recent years when the excitement seemed to wear down. Realizing that as an adult, Christmas has to be about so much more than conventional ideas for it to remain special. The focus must – and always must – be on the birth of Christ. I have really made an effort this year to dive deeper into my devotionals, participate in Advent, and get back to the core of what Christmas is really about.

What else has given me new hope in this Season are these two. My babies.

Jack and Savannah - Christmas 2017

I cannot get enough of my babies.

These two bring the magic back to the season. There is nothing like seeing Jack’s face light up when he sees the decorations (…not so much Santa Clause though, but maybe next year)! My heart just explodes seeing my littles in matching Christmas jammies. Smiling, and joyful, and innocent. Representing all things kids should be at all times, and especially at Christmas.

This season, I hope you will find the joy in the present vs. the presents. The Holidays can be difficult for so many, especially those who are missing loved ones for the first time. It is my prayer for you that the true meaning of Christmas will shine in your life. That your heart will be filled with all things wonder, joy and comfort.

I will be taking off the next week or so from blogging to spend time with my husband and babies. I’ll be back after the first of the year with a new post.

From my family to yours, have the Merriest Christmas and Happy New Year! See you in 2018!
