A Recipe for the Perfect Spa Night at Home

During the month of January, I’m focusing on self-care and how a little bit each day can go a long way. When we were designing the master bathroom in our new home, I wanted the focus and feel to be coastal and spa-like. Because going to the spa can cost an arm and a leg, I thought it would be wonderful and worth the investment to create a spa environment at home. The master bathroom can be such a retreat, especially for a tired mom at the end of a long day. I can’t wait to put our freestanding tub to good use the second we move in!

A Recipe for the Perfect Spa Night at Home

Here are my picks for creating the perfect zen, spa night in the comforts of your own home:

Sonoma Lavender Neck Pillow – This same lavender scented neck pillow is used at the Woodhouse Day Spa and it is so relaxing. It definitely gets you into a spa-like vibe and calms your body and mind. In fact, I use my own neck pillow nightly. I just pop it into the microwave for about a minute fifteen and wear it while I wash my face, brush my teeth and get ready for bed.

The Woodhouse Escape Diffusion Blend – The Woodhouse Day Spa is my very favorite spa! They have all the special touches (a lot of which you will see in this list) and the attention to details is what keeps me coming back for more. Who wouldn’t want their own bathroom at home to smell like this amazing spa?

Marble Essential Oil Diffuser – Some oil diffusers are not very appealing to the eye, but this one is sleek and pretty! Perfect to diffuse your Woodhouse Escape blend above!

Ugg Ana Robe – I received this robe for my birthday in 2016 and have literally worn it every day since. It is so incredibly soft and comfortable. It’s definitely an investment, but one that is well worth it in my opinion. You’re going to want to wear it each night before going to bed! I spotted this style on Nordstrom’s website and have it on my wish list for the next robe purchase.

Beautycounter Spa Sets – I love these Spa Sets from Beautycounter! Each Set includes a face mask, mist, and a face oil. There are three collections to choose from – the Brightening, Plumping, or Balancing. When I am asked what Spa Set to get, I usually suggest that Brightening is great for those who have normal or oily skin (not dry), Plumping for those with dry or mature skin, and Balancing for normal, oily, or acne-prone skin. Throughout pregnancy I loved the Brightening line and still do as someone who needs her skin awakened and fresh while running on little sleep. I follow the treatment twice a week.

Soaking Tub – The tub I linked to is the exact one we purchased for our master bathroom. A soaker tub is definitely a want, and not necessarily a need, but it was important to me when I envisioned our bathroom plans coming to life. I have always wanted a freestanding soaker and I can’t wait to put this one to good use. Of course, you don’t have to invest in a tub like this to have a beautiful spa night. Any tub will do. ๐Ÿ™‚

Pure Epsom Salt – If you’re going to indulge in a hot bath, add Epsom Salt to the tub. Epsom Salt baths can help relax the body and ease stress and muscles, help eliminate toxins, and alleviate cramping and bloating.

Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice Tea – The absolute best tea I have ever had, and another Woodhouse staple. I actually buy this bag of 50 sachets and store them in my original tin. I just love the smell and the taste, and to me, it’s the epitome of the perfect cinnamon tea.

Savannah Small White Mug – I have to be honest, the name of this mug totally did it for me! How nice would it be to sip the Hot Cinnamon Spice Tea in one of these tiny mugs? Add a matching saucer for even more of an authentic tea experience.

Rewined Blanc Collection (Zinfandel) Candle – I have purchased these Rewined candles for so many friends and just love them! The candle is poured into repurposed wine bottles and made in Charleston, SC.

White Matchstick Jar – Who knew matches could be so adorable? Would look great next to your favorite candle.

Along with creating the ambiance of a spa night, I would suggest leading into the night with healthy decision making. For example, if you can sneak away for a quick workout or run – do it! Maybe choose a healthier dinner like a salad. And remember, salads don’t have to be bland or boring. Jazz it up by adding roasted vegetables, dried or fresh fruit, a little good cheese, toasted nuts and a light vinaigrette. Follow your spa-like experience with a good book and and early night of sleep (if possible)!

  1. This is a great cozy resource! You know how I feel about robes, ha! Maybe it can be a present after we have a second baby – I’m sure it’s a dream to lay around and nurse in! We have Woodhouse Spas down here too I’m pretty sure and I’m always wanted to go!!

Oh my goodness – yes, you need to go! Woodhouse is the best and worth every penny. Start with a pedicure if you want and you will get hooked. ๐Ÿ™‚

And you need a super cozy robe post-baby – and even now! It is one of the best investments you can make. It makes you feel good and you’ll wear it every day.

  2. I love these ideas!! I’ve been really in to hot tea with honey and candles at night. My mom bought me a robe when I was pregnant for nursing and I am obsessed with it…its so soft!
